Hey, to whomever.
I've put off blogging for a while now. It's time I blog blog blog. I will start my newest blog with some thoughts and comments on my beloved Rockies. Yes, I know many of you out there are haters and such, but I am a lover. As I type, The Rockies are in the 7th inning with the LA Dodgers 13-2. Tears fill my eyes. So another game in the hole. (Yes, those Rockies love a fighting comeback, but I am still realistic). Last night, the only Nationally broadcasted game.... lost. Who did we get for Holiday again? Damn.
Opening Day on the other hand was pure delight. Every year right around the same time in April I have the luxury of going to the Opening Day game of the Colorado Rockies with my Dad. (Thanks Dad!) We tried to get there early, (Dad wanted to see the jets fly over). We did see and hear those jets but not while sitting comfortably in our green plastic seats. We were shoving our way through a moshpit line. We little Berquists can squeeze through whole messes of 'taller' people virtually unnoticed; and if someone feels the need to prevent the line cutting, I always pull the age card out... Like, "Hey, I'm 12 years old, where is my daddy?" or if that doesn't work, "My elderly father needs to get to his seat before his hip breaks". Either or, whichever I'm in the mood for.
Anyway, we get to our familar 3rd baseline seats with our bag-o-peanuts and the game begins. Can you belive it? it was a good good game we won! Hot Toddy hit more than just foul balls, we chanted our chant for Tulo (*clapclapclap*) and the pitcher (Marquis? I can't remember his name...opps) can hit! Dexter the newbie didn't do much to impress after hearing promising news from Tuscon.
Anther fun fact (or oddball detail, if you will)....Bill Owens had a nice view of the game a couple rows in front of me and my dad. There is nothing like a Colorado celebrity...(I mean we have so many bright faces in this state of ours... Ron Zappolo, Jake Jabs... I could go on- and I will, have I ever told you that Jake Jabs rode on a Ted flight- *that's a discounted United*- to Phoenix with me? He took his shoes off!). Sorry, I get starstruck and the words flow out of me.
Well, I think I'm going to go watch the Dodgers win.... Go Rockies.
Bye for now.
